4/30/2018 Update: Brewery Boom
An almost six month long layoff from writing gave me the time to hit ten more new bars in the area, but so many openings and closings makes me feel what I’m writing is already out of date. Union @ 525 in Moline is dressed up a little since it was the short-lived Stack’s (I was never there when it was), but I don’t have much to say about it after that. We did have a very nice young man for a bartender, but his inexperience showed when he asked my wife if she her Absolut and Tonic on the rocks bartender on the rocks (as opposed to?), then asked her if she wanted ice too. Wake Brewing is located on 5t Ave, across from the Botanical Center in Rock Island. They rotate their beers, so I’m prone to give it another chance, but none of the five of us that went in were overly impressed with the beer.
