11/19/2014 Update:
I’d mentioned last post that the
East Village Café was remodeling, but hadn’t made clear what the new name was
going to be, or even if there would be one.
The sign just says “Brew”, but Brew
In The Village is the full name, and was added to my list the week it reopened. I’m not quite sure if it was completely
finished, but I think a sort of rustic joint where you can get a cup of coffee
or a Vanilla Porter will make a nice addition to East Davenport.
Monkey’s Riverdale Pub closed briefly to become My Place – The Pub, after an ownership
change and slight remodel. I’ll probably
have to take a look at my favorite and least favorite dives lists, since Monkey’s
was on both (depending on the time of day), though both were as honorable
mentions.
Those additions bring my total to
538.
As for what’s
on the horizon:
Congratulations
to Richard and Denise Day, who just broke ground on Green Tree Brewery in LeClaire.
If all goes well, they will be open in April, immediately north of the
distillery. Possibly before that, there will
be another Barrel House immediately
to the south.
The previous owner
of one of my favorite places in the Quad Cities, 129 in LeClaire, is opening a place at 4907 Utica Ridge in
Davenport (just north of Osaka). No sign
up yet, but the bar is built and they have a small patio to the side with a
nice fireplace. Without a name, it can’t
yet be added to my What’s Left list, but the two coming to LeClaire puts it at
11.
Other bar
news:
·
I don’t need
to wonder anymore if anyone would be moving in to Uptown in Bettendorf, as it’s been bulldozed.
·
It appears that the Platinum Club in Rock Island has closed
before I was able to get there, but I’ll need to confirm that.
·
The Dam View Inn in Davenport has reopened
after a remodel (and is a vast improvement), and M. D. Green’s in the Rock Island District has opened their front
portion as they work to repair the back, after the fire in September.
That’s all
for the local bar update, so… It’s photo time!
My wife and I were fortunate enough to get back to St. Maarten (and
neighboring islands) for the second time this year, so here are some
