1/9/2011 Update: Happy New Year!

Added Buffalo Wild Wings (Moline), Carlos O’Kelly’s (Davenport), Village Pub, and Anna’s Village Tap (both in Milan), plus realized my list was missing the bars at Hidden Hills and Olathea golf courses.  The count is now up to 317, and you can see them all by clicking ‘The List’ above.  All for now.

9/27/2014 Update: Buffett Song Bar Trivia

The J Bar in the Holiday Inn in Davenport opened Sep 8, and when we and our friends Dave & Robin (rare thing to have company when I add a new bar to my list) hit it for the first time, it was too busy to sit inside.  The patio was heated and very cool, with a fire feature bisecting it.  Unfortunately it was still too cold to hang around too long, so I went back the next day and sat at the bar.  Good food, unique menu, and a $40,000 argon filled wine cooler.  All very hip, and I think will make a really nice hotel bar, but really very corporate. The Field House (same owners as the original one in downtown Iowa City) occupies what used to be Habaneros in North Park Mall.  This place is Hawkeye heaven with its gold and black décor and 20+ flat screens, and the food is good enough to be a draw even on non-football Saturdays.  They opened 9/2, but I didn’t even notice it until over a week later. 12/28/2010 Update: Last update of 2010

I’ve fallen off the pace a little during the holidays, only adding Montana Jack’s in Moline , Joe’s Place in Colona, and Ruby Tuesday’s in Davenport .  I also somehow found that I’d left the bar at Town & Country Bowl off the list – unfortunately, it had to burn down for me to discover the error.  The count sits at 311; click “The List” above to see them all. Reading this, you might get the impression that I don’t do much other than visit different bars in the Quad Cities Area.  NOT TRUE!  I visit bars throughout the country (and starting to make a dent in the rest of the world)!  Feel a list coming on?  First, a few recollections about some of the places we’ve been. 4/19/2017: 600!

I was just a young kid with a dream when I embarked on visiting and tallying up all the Quad Cities Bars, after counting up the 166 that, at that time, I figured I’d been to.  I started tracking in May of 2009, and since then (through my March update) added 456 and remembered an additional 77.  With this update, I’m pleased to announce I’ve gone beyond 600 Quad Cities area bars! Number 600 was Raw , next to the Adler Theater in downtown Davenport.  A small and upscale bar, with unique drinks, sashimi, and charcuterie such as wild boar and smoked duck you can pair with some high-end cheeses.  The only downside on the night we visited was the bartenders were playing hip hop and techno, which won’t attract the type of people willing to pay $9-11 for a cocktail. Treehouse , originally set to open in August finally did open on New Year’s Eve.  They have a beautiful location on Duck Creek in Bettendorf with a deck that spans the length of the restaurant, and plan...
