2/17/2011 Update

I’ve added a new page so that you can now not only see the list of bars I‘ve been to, but the bars remaining in the Quad Cities that I haven’t hit yet (click “What’s left” above).  I try to research this periodically to see if some potential additions are still open, have changed, or that some that had closed are reopening.  I welcome any comments on this list; please let me know if I’m missing any.  You’ll notice that there are 44 on this list, and I need 63 to hit 400.  Uh-oh!  This list includes “traditional” bars only, but fortunately there still are a few restaurants, bowling alleys, and golf courses that have bars I should be able to add to make up the difference.

This update’s additions to the list are Osaka (Davenport), Café Fresh (Moline), Chuck’s Tap (Davenport), Vivian’s Tap (Davenport), and Azteca 3 (Bettendorf).  I also had omitted Jumer’s Rock Island Casino (the boat), where I’ve sat at the 2nd floor bar playing video poker and quaffing Miller Lite a couple of times.  The list numbers 337, and will increase by one if someone can help me remember the name of the bar that became 84 Roadhouse in East Moline.  I also need help with prior names of Grumpy’s and Bleyart’s in the East Village.

Some good news on the ‘fresh meat’ front:  The Starting Line has reopened as Brady Street Pub, and Northwoods Steakhouse is reopening as the Club House, an indoor golf lounge.  Also, The Lodge in Port Byron has reopened as Mean Mel’s Steakhouse, and they used to have a nice little bar overlooking the Mississippi.  Still waiting for Nasty McGinn’s – after the apartment upstairs burned and the bar had to close, they’ve put on a new door indicating it was becoming the Central Ave. Tap, but I haven’t seen any activity since.  The bad news is that two of my potentials on the list, Double Deuce and Joe’s Club, are no longer open.
