1/26/2012 Update – Havana Daydreamin’

I finally made it to the Redstone Room, knocking a charter member off of the What’s Left list.  Good time to go, too:  the Havana Daydreamin’ Pre-Party, with the Sin City Orchestra joined at various times by Dave Ellis on vocals and guitar, John Patti on the steel drums, Doyle Grisham (of the Coral Reefers) on steel guitar, and Nadira Shakoor (also of the Coral Reefers) on vocals.

The other addition to my list doesn’t officially have a name yet.  I’ll give it the nickname of Bootlegger’s, because I know that is one of two choices, and probably what they were leaning towards when they created their (temporary) “Bootleggin’ Menu”.  The place I’m referring to was, up until New Year’s Eve, the Bierstube in the Village of East Davenport.  Katy from the Stockade, along with her two sisters I’m led to understand, are the new owners, and briefly reopened the weekend after New Year’s (mainly to sell off perishables left by the ‘Stube, and I know some people got good deals on some German beer).  They are now closed for remodeling until February.

That brings my count is up 421, but my What’s Left list goes up to 16.  That’s because I have been leaving the ‘Gentleman’s Clubs’ off this list, although I have them included in the 421.  I do not count the BYOB places, however, so Teazer’s in Davenport and The Body Shop in Rock Island are eligible to be counted.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve added a new page with the current list of open bars in the Quad Cities area, listed (as they are in my list) geographically within each city, then again alphabetically.  I will try to include the addresses by next post.

This list does not include every open establishment that I’ve got on my list; it includes only bars at restaurants that I consider the bar good enough to go to even if you’re not just waiting for a table to open up.  Likewise, most golf course and some bowling alley bars are not on the list, as I wouldn’t consider them a destination if you weren’t bowling or playing golf.  Casinos are not included, but hotels are.  Some were close calls, and you may disagree.  I welcome your comments.

This list, which I’ll call the Roster, stands at 289.
